Totems are created by the input of a human heart. The heart rhythm is unique for every person and yet continuously changing. In this movement it reflects our state of being and the transitions in our inner landscape. A Totem is a symbolic object that marks something of great importance to you. This can be a transition to a new phase in your life, or it can symbolize your connection to a loved one. It can also be an object you want to leave behind and pass on to your kin.
Interactive Ritual
Together with you we will form an intention for your Totem. We will then make a recording of your heart rhythm. This ritual will take about 45 minutes. When you ordered your Totem, we will contact you to set a date for your Ritual.
Symbols of Change
Totems are symbols of change, they can help consciously transition from one phase to another. Like a photograph of your inner world, the intricate pattern of this drawing made with your heart captures a specific moment in your life. Therefore you can approach the ritual of creating this artwork as a rite of passage. This ritual honours the movement of life and the changes within us with with reverence and attention. Embracing changes within ourselves as essential parts of the natural movement and rhythms. Coming home into our unfolding life.

This artwork is made of a beautiful, sustainable, transparent Rpet Chiffon, a fabric made of recycled PET beverage bottles. Because the artwork is shown clearly on both the front and the backside of the fabric it is possible to display the totem in front of a wall as well as loose in the room. The scroll is easy to roll up and compact to transport and store.

Personal Totem Ritual
Duration: +- 1,5 hour | Guided by Julie de Ruijter
During a transformative, interactive drawing ritual we guide you in marking a life transition. To begin we will together form an intention for your ritual. During the session we will make a heartrate recording, capturing your personal heart rhythm into magical, organic patterns. From your own intuition you will transform this image by making a Totem drawing (A3 size). Connecting what needs to surface from the inside out.Â
By tuning into your own rhythm and imagination, you will reflect on the changes in your life. What do you want to take with you into this new phase, and what can you leave behind? Back home your Totem drawing will be your compass into this new phase. Guiding you back to yourself and your intention.

Personal Requests
Do you have a specific, heartfelt wish for your Totem/ritual? We embrace personal stories and have experience with making different Totems on request. We had the honour of creating a love Totem of two intertwined heart rhythms and several Totems of people before they passed away, to pass on to their children/loved ones.
